As part of the celebrations marking the 50th anniversary of the legendary band Iron Maiden, another official biographical documentary film has been created and released, titled Iron Maiden: Burning Ambition, directed by Malcolm Menville. The screenplay was written by David Teague, and the band has given its approval.
What Burning Ambition achieves is to shed a little more light on the highlights of the British band’s career. The whole concept of not seeing them but simply hearing them sets a unique tone, while footage of their entire history unfolds before us, often weaving together gaps spanning many years, and the protagonists themselves once again remain down-to-earth, rational, and always free of extremes.
Die-hard fans of the band saw very little they didn’t already know, while younger viewers will get an inside look at the secrets of a massive career, with the positives and negatives, and through interviews with their fans as well as their famous peers, they’ll be able to grasp the magnitude of Maiden’s influence not only on metal but also on contemporary music worldwide.
Along with the three-part documentary series The History of Iron Maiden released by the band (which has been available for free on YouTube for several years now), Burning Ambition gracefully adds a few more facets to the Maiden legend and serves as the perfect warm-up for the upcoming tour. Words are superfluous: Up The Irons Forever!
