There are artists who have left an indelible mark on the music industry. In our time, it is extremely difficult for something like this to happen for many and various reasons that are more or less known to all of us, but it is a topic we will not address at this time. Doro Pesch has managed to touch the metal hearts of millions of people around the world, often by swimming against the tide. Because, make no mistake, things were by no means easy for a woman who wanted to make a name for herself in the male-dominated hard n’ heavy scene. The women who managed to break into the mainstream were few and far between. Lita Ford, Lee Aaron, Doro Pesch. Those were the ones. Obviously, there were others who either remained in the underground (e.g., Leather Leone, Jutta Weinhold) or took more commercial paths (e.g., Vixen, Saraya). From the very beginning, however, Doro had carved out her own independent path…

The story is well-known… both with Warlock and as a solo artist. Personally, I particularly remember her debut performance in Greece at Gagarin alongside Circle II Circle and Saxon a full 23 years ago. We were doing an interview backstage at Gagarin Club when we were interrupted so she could do a soundcheck. Apologizing politely and just as she was about to open the door to leave, she turned around and asked me what my favorite song of hers was. I told her, and a few minutes later they rehearsed it during the soundcheck even though it wasn’t on the set list… She then came back up and said to me: let’s continue the interview. And that’s not all. Some of her fans were waiting patiently outside, and she spent plenty of time with everyone. That’s Doro…one with her fans. And that’s rare these days.

Many years have passed since then, and Doro continues unabated both in the studio and on the concert circuit. What I can assure you, however, is that she hasn’t changed a bit, and her concerts are always flawless and full of energy. I don’t know if we’ll ever get the chance to see her in Athens and Thessaloniki (or in Greece in general) again, which is why October 9th and October 10th is a first-rate opportunity to enjoy an artist who has never for a moment stopped serving the hard n’ heavy sound. We’ll be there.
