Avantasia are going to film their upcoming show in Sao Paolo, Brazil, this Sunday, April 24th for a future live DVD/Blu-Ray release, while they will also shoot a video for "Draconian Love" from their latest studio album "Ghostlights". According to Tobbias the new video filming will take place just before the band goes on stage in Sao Paolo. As for the DVD/Blu-Ray the band had also filmed its performance in the Czech Republic on May 16th, so it will probably include footage from that as well. More info soon...

Cologne, Germany Tonight, the German TV public has chosen which song will represent the country in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest: It's Ghost by Jamie-Lee Kriewitz, a young singer with her very own colourful style - and a strong voice! Unser Lied für Stockholm featured 10 acts, both famous and new, presenting a huge variety of styles from Gregorian chant all the way to a modern version of German Schlager.
17-year old Jamie-Lee Kriewitz will represent Germany in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest. The young singer, who had previously won The Voice of Germany 2015, will enter the stage in Stockholm with her first big hit Ghost. The song already reached the first place in the German iTunes Download charts and the 11th rank in the German music charts. Jamie-Lee is famous for her manga style, which was well visible in her outfit tonight.

In the super-final, Jamie-Lee Kriewitz had won against third-placed Avantasia and second-placed Alex Diehl. These three acts had first topped the ranking in the first round of voting among the 10 candidate acts. In the super-final, 44.5% of the votes - amounting to 1.12 million by televoting, SMS voting, and the Eurovision app - were cast for Jamie-Lee.

Tonight Avantasia are entering a battle to secure a place in… Eurovision 2016 final, which is going to be held in Stockholm on May 14th. Tobias Sammet’s band will have to face 9 artists on a 2-rounds voting procedure with Alex Diehl and Jamie Lee Kriewitz presented as the most likely to win (ed, we wouldn’t hold our breath about that, we just read it somewhere). The song that they will be playing in the german preliminary contest is “Mystery Of A Blood Red Rose” from their recent studio album “Ghostlights”. The German final will be aired live by German public TV, while their support to Avantasia expressed Axxis, and Swedes Hammerfall so far.

Eric Martin

Really, what can you say about meeting Eric Martin in person? The thing we'll never forget is how direct and simple this guy is making you think that he was an old buddy you haven't seen for a while. Despite the traveling, the soundcheck and the interviews he is quite chatty, humorous and honest. He talks about everything and everyone, Mr.Big, Avantasia, Tak Matsumoto, as well as his acoustic shows, while he kicks ass on the video interview! Interview: Sakis Nikas, Camera: Yiannis Dolas, Editing/Post Production: Open Field

Let’s start from the end. Have you ever thought “my God what did I just see” right after the end of a concert? Returning home without any other thoughts whatsoever? Or wondering if this was a one off performance and you were one of the few that witnessed it, cherishing the memories for years to come? That’s exactly what happened to me on the 8th of March in O2 Forum, London.

Here's what Tobias Sammet posted in the official Avantasia Facebook page:
“Hey folks, quite busy these days. New album in the pipeline, the slave drivers in my record company have kept me talking for months, something like 400 interviews, where's Amnesty International when you REALLY need them?! Anyway, video's shot, most interviews done, and early March, we'll set off on the »Ghostlights« world tour. As you know, Madrid and Hamburg are sold out, also the second Madrid show is on its way. More dates like London, Moscow and Sao Paulo as well. Have I told you that you rock big time? And you know what? We have just been confirmed to headline Tuska Open Air in Finland… Which means there'll be a second show in Scandinavia this time. And there'll also be some more American dates to be announced soon! Check out the tour section at to get info and tickets… Anyway, as if that all wasn't enough we've been asked by our record label if we'd be willing to take part in the German preliminary round for the Eurovision Song Contest. My mother's gonna be proud. Or not. We'll see… Anyway, it seemed like a quite unusual idea to compete with anyone in music, to play music AGAINST someone… like in Jazz music! "Everyone against everyone," as my Avantasia pal Ronnie Atkins has put it (after watching a Free Jazz show in Bremen…).
However: WHO AM I to get in the way of a great promotional opportunity?! Three minutes to show millions that something like us exists? GIMME THAT STAGE!
