Since Jag Panzer are visiting Greece in 27/9 for Metal Rites Festival, we take the chance to revisit one of the greatest comebacks of our music.

Jag Panzer consist a huge part of my heavy metal universe. Their recordings from the 80s where a huge milestone and an everyday listen from my adolescent years and this continues up to this day. So the news of the return of the classic Conklin-Briody-Tetley-Taffola line-up with the addition of Rikard Stjernquist (already a veteran from the 80s) with a brand new album was a huge deal. The Return demo in 1996 gave us a taste with two brand new songs which convinced every nonbeliever and in August 25th 1997, The Fourth Judgement landed. 18 years have passed and I think it is safe to express the conclusion that we are dealing with a classic album, ageless and perfect in every way. Sound, compositions, musicianship, all the fine ingredients a creation needs to withstand time. I will always support the notion that matters of luck or fate didn’t allow this band to rise to the level of popularity of many of its colleagues (because artistically speaking they are way above many of them). The band continued with an impressive streak of amazing releases so this return didn’t just turn into a memory. See you on 27/9 to witness a great band the stage presence of which matches its studio performance.
