It may took him almost three decades in order to pay his first visit to Greece, but it seems that all Jello Biafra needed was a good kickstart as this is his third show in our country in the last 6 years. The opening act was the legendary Greek outfit of Stress; a band that has established a name in the local punk scene and one of the first that released an album with Greek lyrics.
A concert in Athens on a hot Tuesday night during August. What would be the chances for adequate attendance? A few I guess. And that is why what eventually happened is a great feat pointing to the great condition of all three bands and the ascending course they are carving with their own means and talent.
The last years we have witnessed the birth of many underground metal festivals and Summer Under The Quarry is another one. For the first time it offered us 7 bands and no entrance fee. The place was ideal, although not easily accessible with public transportations, an open theatre inside the Veikos Grove.
Once more the Greek fans’ favorites, Scorpions, played in Athens celebrating fifty years in rock doing what they do best with Motorhead’s drummer Mickey Dee replacing James Kottak, possibly permanently…
