Not long ago, the editors of Rockpages.gr got together to talk about their favorite music. While discussing, Mariza “Crash” was wondering why a band so big and iconic like Sodom play in a small venue like An Club. Good question, but in fact the legendary underground club showed us once more its hospitality. After all, it’s something like the home base of the Germans every time they visit Greece.
An introduction to such a performance may be the hardest part and with the least interest if I dare say. I have no inspiration for an introduction whatsoever to be honest with you. The unique sentiment, that I attended the last performance of the half a century history of Black Sabbath, and of the metal itself, all set at the neighborhood where they were born and made their first steps, completely justifies the way someone, who grew up listening to this huge band, feels.
Unfortunately due to obligations the first band that I saw were the symphonic/gothic Sirenia of Morten Veland. Personally, I consider unfair for a band to play live without a keyboardist when their music is 100% based on keys...
Two veterans of the Greek heavy metal scene joined forces for a night full of traditional epic sound! Approximately 200 people found their way onto Kyttaro Club that Friday night and the timeline of the schedule was kept almost intact…good thing!
