FM - "Indiscreet 30" Re-recording Press Release
30 years on we are happy to announce that we have decided to record a modern-day version of our classic debut album INDISCREET. We have been asked many times if we would consider re-recording some of these tracks using today's modern technology and recording techniques and giving the songs the sound of FM as it is today. We realise what an iconic album this is to so many fans so we have always steered clear of tampering with it too much but whilst in the studio recording the follow-up to HEROES & VILLAINS one night at the end of a session we decided to put down a backing track to "That Girl" to see how it would sound with the huge sounds we were getting at the time. It gave the song a new dynamic and power that we couldn't achieve in the 80s. We played it back the following morning and decided it would be great to hear all these classic songs with this new lease of life. We are not trying to recreate the original but this is our interpretation played by FM as we are today with the sound of FM 2016.
In addition to the re-recording of the original album, INDISCREET 30 also features seven bonus tracks including brand new song "Running On Empty" and a new recording of "Let Love Be The Leader".
INDISCREET 30 was produced by FM, recorded at Tremelo Studios and Coal House Studios, Staffordshire and mixed by Jeff Knowler (METROPOLIS, ROCKVILLE and HEROES & VILLAINS).

NOT SO...INDISCREET

Published in News

FM stream a song from the re-recorded debut album “Indiscreet”, which is out on November 4th. The band included a new version of “That Girl” in their previous studio album, “Heroes & Villains” and according to bassist, Merv Goldsworthy led them to the re-recording of “Indiscreet”: “We played it back (“That Girl”) the following morning and decided it would be great to hear all these classic songs with this new lease of life. We are not trying to recreate the original, but this is our interpretation played by FM as we are today with the sound of FM 2016.” Note that FM will play their first ever show in Greece on March 25th at Crow Club.

One of the real fortunate aspects that festivals overseas has is not only that you might bump into bands that you won’t see playing in your home country, but you might have the chance to have a chat with. Rockpages.gr found legendary melodic rockers, the mighty FM at Graspop a few months ago. Merv Goldsworthy founding member of FM and “rookie” Jim Kirkpatrick share their impressions about the bands’ fans, the feedback the new album had and their future plans. Interview: Mariza “Crash”

It took FM more than 30 years to make their virgin trip down to Greece for a show but rest assured that the wait not only was officially over but it was worth every second of it! Needless to say that the show was expected to be hotter than hell as it was officially sold out a couple of days earlier and the fans had packed the venue from early on to witness one of the best hard rock bands that ever emerged from Great Britain.

FM LIVE IN ATHENS!

Published in News

If we were to describe the pantheon of the AOR scene from the 1980s until today, we’d surely need to keep a pedestal for FM, the British group from London, the band that from its first album (Indiscreet, 1986) entered the annals of rock history.
That history they will bring with them to Athens, on Saturday the 25th of March, 2017 and they will deposit it during the one and only show at the Crow Club Athens!
That Girl, Love Lies Dying, I Belong To the Night, American Girls, Someday, Bad Luck and so many more AOR hymns will come to life on the Crow Club’s new stage proving how relevant good 80s and 90s rock music still is today.
On March 25th, one of the most important bands of the 1980s and 90s will be in Athens and the Crow Club, for a single show that no-one is excused to miss!

Band line-up:
Steve Overland (vocals, guitar) / Merv Goldsworthy (bass) / Pete Jupp (drums) Jem Davis (keyboards) / Jim Kirkpatrick (guitar)

This is the third and the last day of Graspop  festival and I am already in terrible pain, from standing two days on a row, to watch so many great bands. The weather was terrible, but that didn’t seem to matter, especially when you spend your time having so much fun.
