A great moment for the current Greek reality! The band that stirred up the extreme metal sound in the mid 90s finally showed up on Greek soil during their tour for their very good latest album and it was about time! The show was a blast and can only be compared with that of AC/DC last year. A real kick ass performance that none of the 15.000 fans that were present that night will ever forget.

The warm up with Combichrist was the best. This electro-industrial quartet (two drummers, one keyboardist, and one vocalist) seemed to have many fans already surely caught everybody’s attention. All the four of them were so energetic that totally filled the stage. The frontman is unbelievable. He reminds me both Joker and Keith Flint. What paranoia! Personally I’m not a big ebm/electro industrial fan but I couldn’t get enough of Corbichrist. I wish they could play more.

A ten o’ clock the huge German flag disappeared with a loud and very impressive explosion. Rammstein looked imposing storming on the stage with “Rammlied”.  From now on all hell brakes lose. It is impossible to describe with words what really happened up there. The Germans literally occupied the place with an electric storm, flame throwers, fireworks flying over our heads, smoke and an amazing light show. The epitome of an industrial environment was right in front of our eyes: turbines, steaming machines, tubes, pipes, rust, blackness, metal! We were thrilled and dazed by the spectacular concept show. I don’t know what to write first!  For instance people were burning alive during “Benzin”, Till Lindemann was hunting down his victim, who’s no other than Christian Lorenz and who always was getting away with it but in the end he was being struck by explosives. Or when the band played “Pussy” the air was flooded with foam and yes it was allegorically supposed to bring in mind tones of sperm (by the way no more censorship for the video of “Pussy” at last!)…  The setlist was fantastic. Rammstein gave emphasis on the best moments of their latest effort and also included many of their classics but not the song “Rammstein” God dammit! Can’t wait for the next time!
