We Are The Road Crew Ken Barr
We Are The Road Crew
Dark Alley Studios

With this title from the famous Motorhead song, Ken Barr –a former roadie- puts down on paper his experiences that he gained and the memories that he kept while being on the road for almost 20 years. The book is written in a very clever, simple yet austere way as Barr chooses to present those 20 years through small, unpublished stories thus avoiding any tiresome moments filled with unnecessary details that would be of any interest only to a handful connoisseurs. What we get with this book is really a presentation of the life of a roadie and what exactly it takes to get there and stick to it. Truth be told…this is a profession that passes most of the times unnoticed and everybody should know a couple of things more about it as without roadies there is no show…simple as that!

The element of “We Are The Road Crew” that left a pleasant impression to me was the overall positive aura and the optimistic atmosphere throughout the pages of the book. That doesn’t mean that life on the road doesn’t have its bad moments…that would be far from true. Ken Barr wants to show the happy and memorable times of an occupation that he really, really enjoyed. Here are a few of the artists that he had worked with: KISS, Alice Cooper, Stone Temple Pilots, Rainbow, Bangles etc.

All in all, this is a fresh approach towards a subject that not too many things have been written about it. The fans of the above groups and all those who are interested in the music industry in general should definitely check out this book. For more information log on to: www.cafepress.com/roadcrewstore
